The Troy Dillinger "Dirty & Hairy" film festival debuts today.
Dillinger, a longtime Austin musician, originally recorded the album, "Dirty & Hairy," to be, well, an album. But then a friend suggested he shoot a video for the CD, and Dillinger took that idea one step further and thought it would be great to make a short film for each song. So that's what he did, with the help of 10 local filmmakers. Then he got some 30 local businesses involved, and voila: The project became a series of 11 short films, based on his songs.
Check it out at 4p.m at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown, 409 Colorado St., $7, www.drafthouse.com. The after-party will be at 7 at the Whisky Bar, 305 W. Fifth St.
