While most musicians are content with creating one music video per album, Austin musician Troy Dillinger wasn't satisfied until he'd brought 11 different Dirty & Hairy songs to life as short films. After two near-death experiences in as many years, Dillinger makes a triumphant return as the creative driving force behind the 11 short films based on the songs of his new critically acclaimed CD, Dirty & Hairy.

"On solid ground; beautifully deconstructed pop-rock that inhabits the hinterlands of the heart somewhere between Steve Earle and the Flaming Lips." -- Music_under_the_radar

Produced by veteran Mack McNabb and recorded at Oxford Audio in South Austin, Dirty & Hairy exudes the mighty musical muscle of Troy Dillinger (vocals, guitars, lap steel) Barry “Frosty” Smith (drums, percussion) Bruce Salmon, (key synth, rhythm samples) and Mack McNabb (bass, organ, guitars, percussion).

Dillinger's "Dirty & Hairy" Film Festival DVD is the result of collaborative efforts between Austin’s film and music communities and a partnership with the Austin Music Network (AMN), the only independent music channel in the world airing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. AMN is broadcasting the television premiere of the Troy Dillinger "Dirty & Hairy" Film Festival DVD on Sunday, November 28 at 8:00 PM. Broadcast in Austin on Time Warner/Grande Communications cable channel 15, AMN also airs on Grande cable channel 24 in San Antonio, New Braunfels, and San Marcos. Not in Austin? Don't get AMN? No problem! Catch the "Dirty & Hairy" Film Festival premiere free over the Internet with AMN's continuous video stream at www.austinmusicnetwork.org.

Ten independent Austin filmmakers wrote, directed, and shot the short films that make up the festival and are all included on the DVD -- comprised of each filmmakers' interpretation of a different Dirty & Hairy song. An unprecedented number of local businesses (45 and counting) have partnered with this innovative project and supported the production of the short films by donating goods and services and providing a life support system. An original concept brought to life: Art made independently by the local community; which contributes back to the community.

The Troy Dillinger "Dirty & Hairy" Film Festival DVD (Running Time: 55:37) Participating Filmmakers:

1. "Pencil Me In" – Directed by UT Film student Ben Foster (Foster Films), the short features cameos by KLBJ-FM Morning show hosts Dale Dudley and Charlie Hodge as record company executives and the Yellow Rose's Don King and Lewis Smith as the manager and bodyguard. Foster is one of Barna Kantor's Center for Young Cinema filmmakers, who produce the AMN program Oh No, which airs Sundays, 8:30pm.

2. "Bitter Old Fool" – This film short is the brainchild of Jeffrey Jones, a film student at UT-Austin, whose prior credits include shooting the video for "Enemy" a single released by Austin-based power pop band BK & Mr. E (Void Records) and producing commercials with his local company Pointman Productions.

3. "Another Song About Love" – When not making her own films (Worse, Up, Skinny) award winning director Tracie Laymon works on feature films like The Alamo, Matchstick Men, and The Ringer. Production manager for Grammy Award-winning music video "Frijolero" for Mexican band Molotov, Laymon's own music video "better?" (Released by Austin-based 54 Seconds) won the Jury Award for Best Music Video at the 2004 SXSW Film Festival. Animation provided by Renny McCauley.

4. "Leavin' This Evening" – This film short is the creation of Kirk Hunter (Kirk-O-Matic), a twenty-year institution on Austin's public access television. Experienced in all aspects of film/video production and post-production, Hunter is also an actor himself and teaches film and video courses around Austin. Guitarist Chris Bray, a former member of Dillinger's 80's hair metal group Band From Hell, portrays a band manager in the film.

5. "Surrender" – Decidedly the creepiest short in the entire festival, Troy Dillinger, making his directorial debut, shot "Surrender," which stars a 12" toy doll as the Rockstar. Destined to be a DIY classic, Dillinger's low tech (and cheap approach) to filmmaking is reminiscent of SNL's "The Mr. Bill" show.

6. "I Got To Love You" – Mind Altering Creations, a cutting edge commercial and film production company created this film short with Director David Ventura Garcia and co-producer Nick Jayanty. Garcia, a graduate film student at UT-Austin has twice been awarded scholarships by the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts and has had work featured in various film festivals in Texas, New York, and San Francisco.

7. "Strong Arms" – Directed by long time Austin scenester Brian Watkins (whose film debut was the epic documentary Steamboat: Beyond Sixth Street); Carlos Funes of Clasico Entertainment edited "Strong Arms." Funes has written and directed several award winning shorts and edited multiple video projects.

8. "Forgive Me" – The directorial debut of Troy Dillinger, created with the editorial assistance of Ben Foster ("Pencil Me In") who also served as Director of Photography.

9. "Jam For Tomorrow" – Nadia M., director, producer, and on-air host of AMN's show "Girls That Rock" tries her hand at filmmaking with this retrospect of Dillinger's musical deeds (and misdeeds).

10. "Candle Shop" – Producer/Director/Writer Robie Kentspeth (The Real You) has been a professional stage actress for more than half her life and was a founding board member of Deus Ex Machina. Just as comfortable off the stage as on, Kentspeth has produced and directed shows Off-Broadway in NYC as well as at the Producer's Club.

11. "Just 'Cuz" – The second effort by Mind Altering Creations ("I Got To Love You.") with Director/Producer Justin A. Gilley, a UT-Austin film student with over 20 productions under his belt.
